The Boy Scouts bankruptcy was supposed to bury decades of sexual abuse claims under a tidy $2.7 billion settlement. Instead, it has blown open a new front in the legal war against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In September 2022, bankruptcy Judge Laurie Selber Silverstein rejected a last-minute maneuver that would have let the LDS Church pay $250 million to wipe away virtually all scouting-related abuse liability. The Church responded by pulling out of
